The first ancestor of the family FAES treated here was born around 1500 AD at Nijlen or Bevel. Since than 17 generations with more than 1000 namesakes brought the name to the different towns of the "Land van Rijen" and further away. They left their mark on the local history of these communities.
Besides the names and dates the book contains ample information about the local history of the towns the family Faes was living in: Bevel, Nijlen, Kessel, Lier, Zoerle, Westerlo, Westmeerbeek, Hontenisse (Nl), Hulst (Nl), Rupelmonde, Vremde, Hallaar, Haacht, Zandhoven, Viersel.
Each generation is placed in its historical frame: Spanish, Austrian, French, Dutch and Belgian period; the consequences of the social background and world wars are pictured in detail. About 1500 references make further research possible.
The raw material of this publication is available at this homepage in the form of a HAZADATA-file with an index.
In a second volume (FAES-II) the results were compiled of the research made by the authors in the frame of their guarantee: 'If you do not find yourself back in part I, we will research your pedigree as long as it can be found in the archives available in the Land van Rijen".
